Erin Cook, PsyD, PMH-C
Co-Founder & Director of Red Elm Psychotherapy
Perinatal, Postpartum & OCD Therapy in Northern Virginia + PSYPACT States
I support women through the emotional complexities of becoming and being a mother—from trying to conceive and navigating pregnancy to postpartum and early parenthood. My work focuses particularly on perinatal OCD, anxiety, pregnancy and infant loss, high-risk pregnancy, and birth trauma.
Many of the women I work with are thoughtful, capable, and accustomed to managing life well, yet find themselves struggling with intrusive thoughts, anxiety, or experiences that feel difficult to make sense of. Therapy offers a place to understand what's happening while developing practical ways to respond differently.
How I Work
My approach is warm, grounded, and relational, with a strong foundation in evidence-based treatment. I specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, adapting the approach to the particular challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood.
I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-informed therapy, and relational approaches when they fit the needs of the person I'm working with. Therapy is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all, with a focus on understanding what's happening while building practical tools for meaningful, sustainable change.
