Erin Cook, PsyD

Who I Work With

I primarily work with women navigating anxiety, identity shifts, and emotional overwhelm during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood.

Many of my clients are high-functioning, capable individuals who appear steady on the outside, but feel anxious, stuck, or disconnected internally.

I frequently work with:

  • Perinatal anxiety, including pregnancy and postpartum concerns

  • Intrusive thoughts and fear-based thinking (including postpartum OCD)

  • Identity shifts related to motherhood

  • High-functioning anxiety and perfectionism

  • Relationship stress and transitions into parenthood

I also work with adults outside the perinatal period who are navigating anxiety, life transitions, and patterns that feel difficult to shift on their own.

How I Work

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in evidence-based care.

I draw from:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Insight-oriented and relational approaches

  • Attachment-informed work

Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. We work to understand patterns at their root, while also building practical tools to reduce anxiety and increase a sense of stability and clarity.

I aim to create a space that feels both supportive and honest — where you can explore what’s happening internally while also making meaningful, sustainable change.

Co-Occurring Concerns

Many of the clients I work with are navigating more than one challenge at a time.

This may include:

  • Anxiety alongside depression or burnout

  • Relationship strain during major life transitions

  • The emotional impact of fertility challenges, pregnancy, or postpartum experiences

We approach these concerns together, with attention to both immediate relief and longer-term patterns.

Background & Training

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience across a range of clinical settings.

My background includes:

  • Providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in community mental health and outpatient settings

  • Extensive experience in psychological assessment and diagnostic evaluation

  • Training in trauma, attachment, and evidence-based treatment approaches

I also completed specialized training in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International, with a focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Diversity & Inclusion

I work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and identities, and approach therapy with cultural humility, curiosity, and respect.

I aim to create a space where clients feel understood in the context of their full experience — including identity, culture, relationships, and life circumstances.

Location & Availability

I am based in Northern Virginia and offer:
